It’s almost the weekend and we’re celebrating with a special two-part post showcasing a duo of creative cohorts that also happen to be partners-in-life. We stumbled across Good South several years ago (c. 2016) as we were prepping for a long weekend Gilded Getaway to Raleigh/Durham. As with many of our sweet sojourns, trying to squeeze in every morsel of eateries, shoppes and other tucked away treasures requires some degree of planning. Yellow Dog Bread Co. popped up in our pre-departure search and led us down the proverbial path (aka the rabbit hole known as the ‘www’) to the husband + wife team of Good South, the brains behind the branding and graphic elements for many ‘Research Triangle’ boutiques, restaurants + food purveyors.

From their adorable Raleigh studio (Love a good renovation story? This is one not to be missed), Chris and Elizabeth Boyette combined a love for all things old and historical into not only their reimagined railroad shed turned postage stamp-sized perfection, but also bespoke branding and identities for companies across the country. Reclaimed elements are the makings of sooo many ‘good’ projects, both architectural and on paper. And if we’re being completely honest, it was their packaging design for Slingshot’s Coffee Caramels that truly stopped us in our tracks – a black kraft wrap with beautiful typography will win our heart every. single. time.

The pair have since relocated, personally + professionally, to our favorite southern city, Charleston. While their zip code for snail mail may have changed, their eye for design has remained a constant. From letterpress to logos, signage to suites, there’s no stopping this creative couple. They also offer services in styling + interiors, and even have art if you happen to be in need of that, too.

In the words of a legendary homemaker, ‘It’s a Good Thing’. And since we can all agree one can never have too many of those, stay tuned next week (if life goes according to plan, because these days, we all know any semblance of normalcy is up for grabs), for the second serving of this super-size story, highlighting the pair’s new(ish) venture, Palmette. Until then, we’ll be ordering some of those coffee caramels, single servings of caffeinated cuteness to calm the nerves in times of global uncertainty.
